Dear Falcon Ridge Homeowners,
On April 20, 2023, we held our 2023 annual meeting and election of the Board for the expired officer terms, of which 3 of the 5 seats were up for election. Thank you to all the homeowners who participated in the election, but unfortunately, we only received 91 total votes, which was well shy of the required 25% quorum as required by Kansas law for HOAs. Below are some high-level facts about our elections:
- Homeowners are voting to elect people to the Board and not any specific officer positions – those are voted upon by the Board post-election and swearing in of new Board members
- We have 527 homes in the neighborhood and while we know that considerable number means we need 132 votes; we are trying to make it convenient for as many to take part as possible
- Failure to reach quorum means the existing Board stays in place until a valid election is achieved or until the next annual meeting
- Even if you voted in the election last week, we need everyone to vote again
This letter is to inform all homeowners that a new election will be held and quite frankly we need better representation from all the neighborhood to reach the minimum number of ballots cast of 132 homes for the election to be considered official.
The Falcon Ridge Board is working to make the election process easier by asking homeowners to submit their ballots by either email or text. This is a new process for Board elections which we have recently learned is an available and viable means to collect votes.
We will consider the election date deadline May 12, 2023, so please take the time to email your vote or proxy to Amy Streeter at firstname.lastname@example.org as quickly as possible. In addition, for those opted-in to the text communication you will receive a text with instructions on how to submit your votes. Thanks in advance for your support.
